BR: “Chaos Company” by Christopher Slayton

The author sent this book to me for an honest review, and here you can read what I thought about this book, enjoy!

“It’s always the ones closest to us that are able to do the most damage. They know how we think, they also [know] our strengths and our weaknesses.”

This was a very decent read, with an exciting, fast-paced plot, and believable, interesting characters who you are constantly wishing will win.

The main problem that I had with this book was the fact that the majority of it was a fight scene. There were so many, one after the other, practically every ten page it would launch into a forty page description of a fight scene. If you like a lot of action, this is definitely the book for you. I did enjoy most of the fight scenes, but a few dragged.

“It’s a lot simpler to play by your own rules than by someone else’s.”

The only other fault I can find is the grammatical errors. For the first half, there were a surprising number – phrases repeated after each other in a sentence, words missed out, incorrect tense, there were quite a few! I marked it up because the fight scenes were described so well and the mistakes grew farther apart throughout. It just requires an editor with a fine tooth comb!

“When she healed the wounds of a fellow soldier she was giving them a second chance to fight. But with a patient, she was giving them a second chance to live.”

There was a good depth to the characters, however there were some cliches surrounding the powers of the Chaos Company. It felt a lot like the X-Men with the team of humans with superpowers fighting evil, but the plot was strong enough to carry the book forward, and make it an enjoyable read.

“Hitting first prevents the enemy from ever hitting to begin with.”

The plot moved at a good pace, with the events unfolding quickly to keep the reader interested. If a book full of action is the kind you enjoy, definitely pick this up, you will not be disappointed!
